Model: BJ- PVA 2688
Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA, sometimes referred to as PVOH) is a water-soluble polymer used in a wide range of applications such as adhesives, paints, sealants, coatings, textiles, and plastics. The polymer is usually supplied in powder form and is available in a variety of grades with different viscosity and Solubility Properties.
It should not be confused with polyvinyl acetate, also known as PVA (sometimes PVAc), which is insoluble in water.PVAc emulsions are also used in adhesives, paints and various coatings.
Appearance: white free-flowing powder, odorless and tasteless.
Solubility: Polyvinyl Alcohol Powder (PVA) Type 17-88 and 24-88 are partially alcohol soluble and can be dissolved in water at room temperature. Prohibited when the temperature drops below 0°C; when the temperature is below 10°C, sufficient dissolution time is required for dissolution, usually 5-10 minutes.
Solution stability: Aqueous solutions of low viscosity polyvinyl alcohol are stable at room temperature and will not deteriorate during storage.
Film-forming properties: Due to the high adhesive strength between polyvinyl alcohol molecules, polyvinyl alcohol can easily form a film with a colorless, transparent and smooth surface, high mechanical strength and good solvent resistance.
It is used in paper, textiles and various coatings. It is white (colorless) and odorless.
Some other uses of polyvinyl alcohol include:
Borate paper binder in spiral pipe winding and solid board production
Thickeners and modifiers in polyvinyl acetate adhesives
Textile pulps
Paper coatings, release papers
As a water-soluble film suitable for packaging
